Regardless of your political affiliation, one thing is certain – it appears that tariffs are headed our way, again. Despite what some may say, tariffs are taxes paid by the company or person that brings an item into the country, not by the country or vendor that sends the item to the US. In other words, we pay the price.
This time around, things are going to get more interesting as tariffs are being levied against more countries. For example, all products from Mexico will be taxed 25% upon entering the US (I was wondering how I was going to break my guacamole addiction – I guess now I know!). Over the past few years more furniture companies have been setting up factories in Mexico so all of those products will not suffer a 25% tax upon entering the US.
For more than 50 years we have proudly been American Made. In fact, with the exception of just a few items (staples, nails, screws and some of our “foundation” fabrics like the fabric that is on the seat deck under the cushions), all of our supplies come from American Manufacturers. Our wood is from NC. Our foam and fiber is from just a couple miles down the road. Even our glues and stains are made in America.
Whether you support tariffs or not, the one thing you can be sure of – if you order from Ted Scott, you need not worry about tariffs because we will always proudly be American Made.
